So the draw for Euro 2012 has just taken place in Kiev and thankfully, it’s not looking too bad for England!
Lions boss Fabio Capello spoke earlier this week about the teams he would not like to face:
“I think you need to avoid the first pot with Spain and Holland. After that there is also Portugal and France in the third and fourth pot — and these are teams I would prefer to avoid in the group stage.”
“You need also to be careful with Ukraine and Poland, as they can improve a lot with home advantage. It is possible they could be the surprise of the tournament.”
And Fabio should be smiling right now because England have managed to swerve both “first pot” teams, Spain and Holland as well as Portugal, Italy and the old enemy, Germany.
The England fixture list looks like this: France in Donetsk on 11 June 2012, Sweden in Kiev on 15 June and Ukraine in Donetsk on 19 June.
